About Hansel
Hi everyone! Please to meet you... My name is Hansel, and I was rescued from being killed in a council pound with my friend Gretel. We didn’t do anything wrong to end up there, we were just two of hundreds of dogs abandoned that week by irresponsible people. I love other dogs, and get along with everyone I meet! I came into care covered in fleas but now I am super healthy and ready to roll! I have been flea, tick and worm/heartworm treated, and desex is due by the end of June 2017. I am a young, happy lad with gorgeous gold eyes and a really happy, excited expression. Everything is fun for me- except cats. Cats freak me out, please don't try to adopt me if you have cats!
I currently live with two other dogs, one large and one medium- and am used to sleeping outside in the garage or alfresco areas. My house testing hasn’t been completed yet so it isn’t certain yet whether or not I am house trained- but even if I’m not, a smart lad like me will learn really quickly! I travel well in the car, and loooove a good squeaky toy! Belly rubs are my favourite thing along with chasing balls. I have no sign of food aggression and don’t bark at much. I am currently learning basic commands (I came in not even knowing how to sit!) and am catching on quickly. I’m food orientated so training me is really easy because I love treats and I love to please. At the moment I live in a yard with a 1.2m fence so it doesn’t seem like I am keen on roaming/need high fences. See I really am a very good dog! You’d be crazy to walk past me. I am kelpie size with medium length hair and while I’m just a teen.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate, microchip number.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
