About Pixie
Pixie is a sweet confident little girl who loves to play with the other puppies and with her toys. She came to us as the last survivor of a litter of puppies in one of the town camps. She was really tiny and emaciated and only about 6 weeks old, but it didn't take her long to bounce back with good care, plenty of food and a warm bed.
She has been fostered in Tennant Creek with 2 grumpy terriers and a couple of dog experienced cats. She has learnt to respect the older dogs, and is quite diplomatic with them. The cats she really ignores. More recently another puppy bigger than her has come to stay and they really have become great friends, so we could see Pixie in a home with another playful friendly dog.
Pixie's mum has been desexed and returned to her family, but they surrendered Pixie to be grown up and rehomed. Mum dog was not very big, and Pixie is little, so we think she will be around 10 kilos fully grown.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Pixie's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. She is currently in foster care in Tennant Creek.
Medical notes
Pixie will be wormed and heart-worm treated again just before leaving the Territory. She should be de-wormed fortnightly until 5 months of age and have at least 1 further heart-worm treatment after she arrives down south.
Adoption details
We request that prospective adopters email us with an initial enquiry. We will forward an application form. On receipt of the application form, we will make phone contact to discuss the adoption. We try hard to match the dog to the person, ultimately looking for the best fit for the dog. Shipping fees may or may not be included in the adoption fee, and this will be stated in the pet's profile.
