About Humphrey ~ Dane x Cattle (pending adoption 3/10/17
Good looks and charm and a tail that goes for days, meet our Humphrey Bogart! This big spunk has the smarts of a Cattle dog and the majesty of a Great Dane. Humphrey is 7 months old still growing. He has beautiful markings is already tall and has some filling out to do, so will definitely only be for families who love their big dogs!
Humphrey came into care as a pup, has been desexed and vaccinated and is ready for his forever after to start. He has had a couple of false starts through no fault of his own and just needs a family who knows and understands big breed dogs. He is currently undergoing some special training and has proven to be very focused and a quick learner. In his first session he learnt sit, down, shake, spin and crawl. Not bad for 1 hour! He is highly food motivated and easy to train, assessed by 2 DRN trainers.
Everyone who meets Humphrey falls in love with him, he truly is a gentle giant. He needs to learn not to jump and also to not pull on the lead, but with some diligence and consistent effort, his new owners are going to have themselves an amazing dog! We highly recommend his new family continue to take him to puppy / adolescent classes so he can learn what is expected and his BIG presence can be enjoyed both in the home and outside. He travels well in the car and loves exploring new places.
Humphrey would love a large yard to play in and another well matched dog for company. He has not proved to be a jumper, however secure fences and gates are a must. Once he’s had a walk the Great Dane kicks in and he loves just laying back and having a sleep in the sun. Great Danes can be big sooks, so he would love it if he’s allowed to sleep inside, however he will also accept a nice warm kennel with a coat and a blanket in the right home.
For more information or to meet Humphrey, please contact Lauren on hitthesand@hotmail.com. Humphrey is in foster care in Port Stephens and is available for adoption interstate.
Humphrey's adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
