About Charlie
Charlie:
Let me tell you about this beautiful boy
Charlie was trapped as a Feral cat - he was about 5 months when he arrived in our care.
Charlie went through Rehab here with me at Just Cats and responded really well.
It took 2.5 months to finally have him purring, playing and showing affection but all well worth it
Charlie then moved into the adoption room to find his forever home.
He is fun loving and gets along really well with other cats!
But ...........
Sadly for Charlie he had an unusual ulcer that appeared on his mouth, I hadn't seen this before so the staff took him to the vet for an examination.
Blood tests revealed that Charlie has Feline Leprosy
This is a mycobacterial disease that Charlie may have picked up from a Rodent 😢
It has now spread and he has several lesions.
OUTCOME
we are hoping we can still give Charlie a good life, we chose to operate last Friday and remove 2 lesions, one from behind his ear and another from his leg, these have been sent off to the lab for testing, they can then help us find the right treatment plan to help Charlie.
Sadly it will be a long treatment plan and Charlie cannot be with other cats - it can be transmitted if he was to bite a cat and, that cat was low in immunity.
I know this is a big ask but......
could you or do you know someone who could offer Charlie a home where he can be a happy indoor only cat?
We are happy to offer a permanent foster care situation with Charlie.
This means that Just Cats will pay for his medical treatments for the rest of his life - all you need to do is offer him a home.
Medical notes
Charlie has been diagnosed with Feline Leprosy, making him a special needs cat - though he loves other cats he can't be with them. We would love someone to adopt him OR offer him a home as a permanent foster - Just Cats will pay his medical bills for life.
