About Quinn
Are you looking for a funny, playful companion who loves a cuddle? Do you like a dog that will snuggle into you and give you lots of affection? Quinn may be the one for you!
Sweet Quinn came into care after suffering years of neglect due to her owners financial hardship. Her owner had disclosed to us that she had mammary tumours however we were all shocked at the state of her when we met her. Quinn was missing most of her hair, when our foster carer bathed her the water went black, and she was in such agony from her painful and infected skin that she was manic with anxiety.
Quinn was beside herself, she was in pain and she could not settle due to the discomfort. The difference we saw in her once she was started on antihistamines and medicated baths. Unfortunately her surgery to remove her tumours had to be delayed until we could get her skin under control, as the infection would have compromised the sterility of the surgery. After weeks of love and care from her foster family, Quinn finally had her cancers removed and we sent them off to the lab for histopathology. We were delighted when they came back benign.
Quinn is now ready for adoption. She is a cuddly, affectionate and playful dog. She is very energetic and loves to play. She enjoys the company of other dogs, however needs slow introduction to new dogs. Quinn would be best not to live in a home with cats or pocket pets as she does have the terrier drive to chase.
Quinn has some seperation anxiety and would do best in a home with someone who is home alot. She is a lovely, affectionate dog who just wants to be with her person.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Quinn had a severe yeast infection on her skin when she came into care. She was missing most of her coat and was treated with several weeks of oral antibiotics, Apoquel allergy tablets, medicated baths and antihistamines. She also had mammary tumours which were removed and sent off for testing and thankfully were benign. Quinn continues to take Apoquel tablets which cost about $25 per week.
