About Rosie ~ Gsd x Mastiff (on trial 14/12/2017)
Introducing Rosie – a 1 and a half year old German Shepherd x Mastiff mix girl who is a total sweetheart. Rosie has big doe eyes and a soft grey coat - she loves people of all ages and is happy to meet new people with a wag of her tail and a smile. The kids say she is like Scooby-Doo, she loves her food as has big floppy ears.
Rosie is a sleek and tall girl which just means there is more of her to love. She is a softie, and a bit of a lapdog who enjoys affection and will give you gentle licks on your hand to show her love.
Rosie is dog friendly, child friendly and has been exposed to a cat with little reaction. She would do well with an active family with older children or teenagers to play with, or a home with a friendly, adult canine companion. Rosie has a beautiful nature and gets along really well with kids and other dogs she knows. She loves to go for a walk/run and loves to spend the afternoon in the backyard with the kids playing chasing the ball and running around. Rosie loves to snuggle and have a scratch on the belly and sometimes will lay her head on your lap.
Rosie loves treat rewards and will shake your hand and take them gently when offered. She is so smart she already can sit, shake, drop and stay, the kids have been teaching her to touch with her nose. Rosie was pulling a lot on the lead when she first arrived but with some training and help from DRN trainers she is walking much better and hardly pulls at all now.
Rosie responds best when she has consistency and routine - a daily walk or run (she would suit a jogger) and play time in a secure yard (with 6 foot fencing) would be her perfect day. She would love a home where she is included as a family member and she's allowed inside with her people and able to sleep inside on her own bed. Rosie loves when you come home, she gets so excited to see you and make sure she says hello to everyone. She won't suit being a yard only dog as she loves people too much - she wants to be with her favourite people - you! Rosie is still very much a cheeky puppy (albeit a big one!) so she'll enjoy being entertained with bones, chews or puzzle toys and daily activities to keep her fit and healthy. She would do well at group dog-training classes or being trained to do dog sports like agility.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
