About Georgie ~ Kelpie x Border Collie (On Trial 28/5/17
Hey there, Georgie girl! At 12 weeks old, this little ball of puppy cuteness has shiny, soft black hair and a strong desire to snuggle. Our best guess is she is a Kelpie x Border Collie with perhaps something else thrown in, maybe Lab. She is delightfully calm for a pup this age and if you stand still long enough, she will curl up on your feet!
Georgie will be a beautiful family dog. She will need a good sized yard to run and play and lots of exercise and walks as she grows. She is very nervous of new people and sounds and would therefore benefit from having a calmer older dog for company. She desperately wants to be friends with everyone and comes around very quickly if you give her a little bit of time and patience. She clearly hasn’t had the best start and just needs some help to build her confidence. Families with younger children will happily be considered, but very much on the proviso that they understand how to treat a pup, when to play and when to leave her be.
Puppy school will help her greatly and also creates a wonderful bond between a pup and new owner. She is going to need secure gates and fencing (no post and wire). She loves hanging in the sun with her foster brothers and is doing a great job sleeping through the night in the security of her crate. We are currently working on her toilet training and she is doing well. She has a plastic ring that she entertains herself with, tossing it in the air and watching it roll. She can also play fetch with a tennis ball AND return it, which is pretty clever for her age!
As Georgie is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Georgie, please email her foster mum Lauren at hitthesand@hotmail.com. Georgie is currently in care in Salamander Bay NSW (north of Newcastle).
Georgie's adoption fee is $550 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
