About Dex ~ 8mo Boxer x boy (on trial 26/06/17)
DDex is a beautiful 8 month old, good-natured, friendly Boxer x boy who loves people and other dogs. He is looking for a new home - is that with?
Dex loves to go for a walk and his leash training is progressing rapidly, he will walk by your side, sit and wait for directive at intersections and has learnt not to be a sniffer. He is an active boy and would love someone who is willing to take him out for a run, a walk or just a play in the park.
Dex has had basic training and can sit, stay, come when called and wait for his dinner when given the OK to eat. He is fast to learn and eager to please, so would love extra training and thrive with the opportunity. This gorgeous ball of energy has the biggest personality and so much love to give!
Although Dex has been an outside sleeper he is currently training sleeping indoors overnight and spending more time inside - and as such can now go a whole night through without any accidents. Since he is used to having a doggy companion, Dex would benefit from being with a family with an existing dog. In saying this, he loves his family and would like nothing more then to spend as much time with them also. Dex needs to be included as part of the family and be allowed inside with them when at home. He enjoys a good pat and a scratch and wants nothing more than to lie at your feet or come in for a snuggle.
Dex isn’t a barker but if left by himself for long periods of time can find himself quiet bored and may try to scale a fence if left alone, however he is happy to spend time with his doggy friend in the back yard with lots of toys.
Dex would suit an active family or couple and would require someone to be home part of the day as he loves company.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
