About Strawberry ~ 3yo Boxer x girl (On Trial 25/6/17)
Strawberry is approximately 3 years old, and is a lovely Boxer X girl. It’s not exactly certain what she is crossed with although she is predominantly boxer in her looks, as well as her mannerisms.
Strawberry is an absolutely gorgeous dog who everyone falls in love with as soon as they meet her. She is submissive and very friendly with other dogs. She gets along well with her four other dog sisters and brothers, who are all a fair bit older than her. She walks very well on her lead and has reasonable recall off lead also. I have walked her with four other dogs at a time and she is no issue. With some more independent time, she could be quickly trained to do just about anything as she is quite intelligent. She is not a nuisance barker and will usually only bark excitedly when you arrive home.
Strawberry has never been around any young children as far as I know. While I have little doubt that she would be able to temper her excitement, it may be wise for very little ones to take care around her as when very excited, she has the typical boxer trademark to paw with her front feet, though she mainly does this with her doggy companions, and not humans. I would see no reason why she couldn't go to a home with younger children.
Being a boxer, she has a lot of energy, although is not a dog that requires a ridiculous amount of exercise. She gets around a half hour walk most days with me, though on the days that this is not possible, there isn't an issue with this and she has no negative behaviours from missing a few walks.
Strawberry is an absolutely gorgeous dog who has not had the best start in life. Strawberry was rescued from the pound towards the end of last year. I fell in love with her and decided to foster her. I could see that it looked as though she had recently had pups and had probably been dumped there after having her litter and than the owners not having a use for her. A couple of days after this I was looking at her and I thought to myself, I think she may actually be pregnant. A trip to the vets a couple of days later confirmed this. Due to some health complications with her pups, Strawberry’s pups were a little bit famous for running up a massive bill due to needing 24 hour care over Christmas. Her puppies are now healthy and have already been adopted. Strawberry was an outstanding mother and did a wonderful job with her pups, now it’s her turn to find her forever home.
Strawberry would suit a home where she will be part of the family. Strawberry stays outside during the day but comes in at night. She would be OK as an only dog, although is more than happy to share her home with other dogs.
If you think you can give Strawberry the great home she deserves, please text her foster carer Ben on 0452 411 802. Strawberry is currently in foster care in Maryland, NSW (Newcastle area) and is available for adoption interstate.
Strawberry's adoption fee is $350 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
