About Jenny and Wesley
Having come to us as a pair we’d be more than happy to see them go to the same home. But you know what they say, double-trouble! And it may be true with these two!
You see they are wonderfully affectionate, happy, energetic bundles of fluff, but they’ve really not got a lot of training under their belt. They will need new homes committed to completing some basic training, and as they tend to egg each other on, chances are this will be easier with one rather than two. But hey – if there’s two of you in the home, up for the challenge of training two of them, then who are we to get in the way of a happy family.
Mr Wesley well we may as well just rename him Mr Smooch, for that’s all he wants to do. This boy will be by your side quick as a flash should he suspect a cuddles on offer. Being a real people-dog Mr Wesley is keen to do most things with you and has taken to training like a rock star. Of course his insatiable appetite for treaties also helps with this and the combination makes him a dream to train. Since coming into our care Wesley has been learning sit, drop, come and loose leash walking and is well on his way to smashing them all out of the park.
Oh but we can’t forget to tell you that Wesley has a lovely set of lungs, like any Samoyed with his salt he has excellent voice projection – so be sure to keep him entertained, or you’ll hear about it!
And that brings us to Ms Jenny. Initially more reserved than Wesley, Jenny is ever watchful and will take a little more time to bond with her new humans. Don’t get us wrong, she craves human attention and company but she’s a little more anxious about her new surroundings. Jenny can be a determined girl and she knows what she wants, like to dig out of her kennel run since it doesn’t contain humans, so her new home will need digproof fencing and ideally she won’t be home alone for long days on a regular basis. We think she’s a pretty clever cookie and she’s also been learning some basic training. Being a tad more independent minded and aloof she’s a little less willing to please than Wesley but her training is coming along nicely. Jenny has a favourite thing to do – and that is watching the birdies, tiny little sparrows, or the big magpies, doesn’t really matter which, it is game on. So it goes without saying, no birds, cats or pocket pets in the new home and they won’t be long for this world with Jenny around. This loveable munchkin will be sure to steal your heart with her cheeky smile and soft warm eyes. She knows she will have you wrapped around her little finger in no time at all ☺
Wesley & Jenny were initially seized due to neglect, and then surrendered from another unsuitable home. We don’t believe they’ve had exposure to a great deal in life and this does cause some anxiousness for them at this stage. They can be overly excited and/or overwhelmed in new environments, but with consistent training, regular exposure and a helping hand we are confident they can become well accustomed to regular doggie life. Wesley and Jenny have been learning how to meet new dogs appropriately and this process of instilling boundaries and encouraging correct behaviours is something that their new homes will need to continue with.
At this stage we will begin to consider homes with other dogs for Wesley & Jenny, however the personality types of the other dogs suited will be quite specific.
Both are capable of meeting other dogs of appropriate nature, that is calm, confident dogs, not overly sociable butterflies, or dogs that tend to fly off the handle.
Enrollment in weekly group obedience training will be compulsory for Wesley & Jenny’s new homes to help them with their further training and exposure needs.
Wesley and Jenny have not lived with children to our knowledge so teens an older in the home will be best for now.
