About Cali ~ Ridgeback x, 8 months (On Trial 5/6/17)
Please meet the fun loving, friendly Cali. She is 8 months old and full of love. Cali is a Ridgeback x German Shepherd who loves cuddles and a good scratch ANYWHERE. If you are offering, she is taking!
Cali is a great family dog. She is energetic but very gentle with children. Her favorite thing to do is run around with kids while they play on their scooters. Cali is going to be a big dog when fully grown so probably best suited to children 5 years old and above as there is always the worry that due to her size will accidentally knock small children over.
Cali has basic training, she can sit, stay, and come when called (which she is working on very hard but sometimes gets distracted ). She will wait for her food until released to dig in. Naturally she would benefit from further training as she is still only a puppy.
Cali is house trained. She currently sleeps outside on her bed so it’s not know if she can wait all night until morning, but most likely she can. We would like Cali to be able to sleep indoors, especially now that the weather is cooler. She loves her family very much so she needs to be part of family life and welcome inside when people are home. You will love having her adoring presence bringing so much affection and gratitude to your home.
Cali loves going for walks and gets very excited when the lead comes out. She hasn’t had enough lead training as yet so tends to pull. A front attach harness and positive reinforcement training will soon have her walking nicely.
Cali is dog friendly and enjoys playing with other friendly dogs. She currently lives with another dog. She gets a little protective of her own yard if another dog comes into it and will bark, but makes friends. Cali would be equally happy to live with another friendly doggy companion or as an only dog. She loves people and the individual attention so we she would be suitable for either. She has not been around cats or pocket pets so do not how she would go around them.
Cali would suit an active family or couple but since she is only a puppy cannot be left alone for huge amounts of time each day. She requires a yard with high fencing as when full grown will not be a small dog.
Cali is available for adoption or fostering. If you are interested in meeting Cali please contact Sharron on 0423 331 057 or email sstudley3@bigpond.com. Cali is located in Cessnock (Hunter Valley) and is available for adoption interstate.
Cali's adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
