AC0552 - Apricat
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
*His adoption fee includes vet check, sterilisation, vaccination, microchip, flea and worm treatment*
Medical Notes: Apricat is FIV positive but negative for Leukaemia. FIV is a virus that can affect his immune system, however, he can still potentially live a long healthy life. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Due to his FIV Apricat will need to be an inside only cat. If you have other cats it is recommended that they are vaccinated against FIV and that you use precaution when introducing them to ensure that they get along without fighting.
Apricat also has Gingivitis/Stomatitis, which is inflammation of the gums and mouth. This condition may require treatment on and off throughout his life. Apricat will need his teeth checked at his annual vaccination. He may need treatment in between these times (of steroids and/or antibiotics) if the condition worsens. He may need teeth extracted in the future.
Apricat initially came into care as a stray, however, a life on the streets was not suited for this cat! Apricat is super sweet and just loves pats, belly rubs and cuddles. He enjoys lazing on the couch and trying to get scraps of cheese when his foster mum makes her lunch. Apricat can be timid in new environments but once he gets comfortable he is a loyal companion who just wants to be around you. Apricat is quiet and low fuss.
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
Apricat loves cats and would be best suited in a home with a feline friend. Apricat has not been aggressive towards other animals in his foster home and is happily living with cats who are both FIV positive and negative. It is recommended if you have other cats that they are vaccinated against FIV and you use precautions when introducing them to ensure they get along without fighting. Apricat also lives with a medium-size cat-friendly dog and doesn't mind getting a lick or two to the face! Apricat would best suit a quiet household with no or older children.
Likes / Dislikes
Apricat enjoys both wet and dry foods. He is currently having dental biscuits to help improve his dental health. Apricat uses his litter tray without issue.
