About AC0552 - Apricat
😻 MEET APRICAT 😻
Hi, I'm Apricat! I was living on the streets for a long time when a lovely foster carer caught me! I was scared at first, but slowly realised that hoomans aren’t so bad and that I actually love lots of pats and attention. And having food on tap! I can still be a bit nervous around new people, but I guess it’s hard to break out of those bad habits when I had to look after myself on my own for so long! But my foster mum always says that I’m just the cutest thing, especially when I snore a little when I’m sleeping, and I’ll find the right family to call my own one day!
I have a few health issues because I was out on the streets on my own for so long, but they won’t stop me from living a long and wonderful life. I will just need regular vet visits to make sure I stay healthy and strong, and feeding me dental biscuits is recommended to keep the teeth I have healthy!
I just love love love other cats! All the cats in my foster home are my best friends and I like to sleep next to them on the couch. I would really love to be adopted into a home where I could have another cat friend. Whilst having Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) means you have to make sure we all get along, I’ve never been aggressive to other cats, and with slow introductions I’m sure that other cats will get on with me really well too! I also happily live with a cat friendly dog and would likely be ok with another calm dog. Because I can still be a bit weary of people and new environments, I would probably do best in a quiet home with no children or older children who understand that I might take a bit of time to get used to a new home.

Medical Notes: Apricat has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which is a virus that can affect his immune system, however, he can still live a potentially long healthy life. FIV is transmittable through deep bite wounds. Due to his FIV Apricat will need to be an indoor only cat. FIV cats can live harmoniously with other cats, however slow introductions are required to ensure they do not fight.
Apricat also has Gingivitis/Stomatitis, which is inflammation of the gums and mouth. This condition may require treatment on and off throughout his life. Apricat will need his teeth checked at his annual vaccination. He may need treatment in between these times (of steroids and/or antibiotics) if the condition worsens. Apricat has had some teeth extracted and he may need more extracted in the future.
Apricat was exposed to cat flu, which is a respiratory infection and ringworm, a common fungal infection. He did not show symptoms and was given the all clear by a vet.
