Aconite

Hello, my name is Aconite.

A kind lady rescued me when I was very little. Unfortunately, she lived in the city and was not able to keep me and so she asked the kind people at Lort Smith to help me find a new home.

The lovely vets at Lort Smith have told me that I have reduced vision, due to a condition called Progressive Retinal Atrophy which means that the vision cells inside my eyes are gradually deteriorating. This may be caused by my genetics or an infection or nutritional deficiency during my early development. It is unlikely that my vision will improve and over time I will likely become completely blind.

I will need to be kept as an indoor-only cat and my guardian should avoid major changes to the layout of the house or I may be more prone to bumping into things. I am friendly around other cats and kittens but I haven't been exposed to dogs or other small animals. If I will be living with other animals it is a good idea to put bells on the other animals in the house so I know where they are.

I love affection; belly rubs, lots of pats and grooming all make me purr with happiness.

I still love to play but you need to put toys directly in front of me, toys that make a noise will also be better for me.
