About Delightful Dottie
What a sweet little girl. Quiet and gentle with a coat as soft as ermine, Dottie exudes a lovely sensitive energy and is extremely affectionate when you have her confidence. Being with two 'greymates' is definitely bringing out her playful side – it's lovely to see her playbow, smile and laugh. She would be open to living with another canine friend – she has been meeting a variety of dogs on her walks and is friendly but a little shy & sensibly cautious at first. She is really enjoying meeting new 'hoomans' of all ages, too and her quiet approach delights everyone. She is good with kids and walks very well on the lead. Dottie is the sort of dog that would love to accompany you when out and about. Her manners are quite lovely.
Sitting outside on a daybed in the sun... looking at the view... listening to the birds and watching butterflies land on flowers is a favourite pastime of Dottie's... but being INSIDE with YOU is always her first choice. And she is so quiet you forget she is around, until you catch her face watching you adoringly from a comfy spot. It is preferable that Dottie is not left alone all day at this vulnerable stage of her life while she learns confidence in being a valued family member. She is young and active & her brain needs some interaction through the day to avoid boredom and mischief.
Dottie would suit a quieter family situation very well (boisterious boys can be a bit scary at this stage), or an active retiree who would love a companion to walk with and take on social visits. She is so easy to get along with.
Dottie only raced once – clearly she was born to LOVE, not to race. This delightful, darling young girl would love to have a caring companion or few, as she embraces her wonderful new world.
Adoption details
Greyhounds are gentle, highly sensitive dogs that will surprise you with their ability to love and engage. It is expected that you will provide patience, love and encouragement to assist with the transition from life in a race kennel to becoming a pet and cherished part of the family unit.
They are mainly indoor dogs that need comfortable, safe places to sit and sleep so you must be prepared to accommodate this via suitable bedding and warm clothes in cooler months. They are low-shedding, and good for people with allergies. A safe, secure yard is required and they need a walk or two everyday and/or playtime in the backyard. Most greyhounds appreciate a clean, uncluttered grassy area where they can do their 1-minute 'zoomies' a couple of times a day.
Prospective owners contact carers via email or phone, they can come and meet the animal and make an application if they are suitable.
