About Oscar
Oscar has a wonderful nature, is very gentle and he loves to be around people. He enjoys rides in the car, so travelling with him would not be a problem. He walks well on a lead but can pull slightly so we would recommend a well-fitted harness for him.
Oscar gets on well with other dogs but prefers human company so it would not matter if there was not another dog in the family. He would need to be a part of the family and be allowed full access inside the home, day and night. Oscar would make a great companion for a retired couple/person wanting a full time companion and loyal friend.
Oscar will need a fully fenced, secure yard (colourbond fencing is ideal) with room to run around in. He will require daily exercise to keep him fit and happy - it is not good for him to just laze around all day! PLUS, he needs to lose a few kilos to regain his body shape - he weighs in at 11.2 kg - but this would be easily accomplished with good food management.
Oscar has had a full body clip so his coat is very short at present, but as the photo above shows, he has a gorgeous coat when allowed to grow. He will still require regular grooming to keep him looking his best.
Oscar is a very quiet dog, loves to stay around his human family - he will bark when he sees another dog, but it is just his way of saying "hello" - he does not have any aggression in him, he is just a real friendly boy.
Oscar is looking for his "forever" home and as he is now 8 years of age he deserves permanent security and stability. If you would like to know more about this gentle boy, please feel free to contact Nigel on 02 6584 4992 and he will be happy to talk with you.
Medical notes
weight 11.2 kg (needs to lose some weight) Grade 2 Heart Murmur.
Adoption details
The first step is to phone or email Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. for assessment regarding prospective ownership and pet suitability.
Adoption Application forms must be completed.
A property inspection will be carried out on properties in the Port Macquarie area so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you’ve selected. Proof of home ownership will be required. If renting your home, a letter from the owner’s agent confirming that the pet is allowed will be required.
A 2 week trial period commences on the day of adoption. If, for any reason, the dog is returned to Midcoast Dog Rescue within the trial period, the total adoption fee paid will be refunded.
All Midcoast Dog Rescue animals come desexed, microchipped, vaccinated (up to date), vet checked ,wormed, flea and tick treated.
.......................
Midcoast Dog Rescue Inc. is trying to expand its foster carer network so that we can help more dogs in need. This is a very rewarding experience and suits a variety of people. Some people, for whatever reason, are unable to make a permanent commitment to a dog, a commitment which can last for up to 15 years. Others use the fostering experience as an interim measure before committing to permanently owning a dog. If you think you could be interested in becoming a foster carer, either on a long-term or a short-term basis, and would like more information please contact Nigel on 6584 4992 or Wendy on 6584 7027.
