About Millie ~ Great Dane x (adopted 13/8/17)
The beautiful Millie - Foster carer or adoption needed!
Millie is a 10 month old Great Dane Cross with a beautiful personality. She is a gentle giant!
Millie is wonderful with children and is not aggressive at all, she responds very gently and affectionately towards them however due to her size and strength; she could accidentally knock a small child over in excitement so a family with children 10 years and older would be perfect. She is very friendly with people and is eager to please. Millie would love to be included in family life and spend time inside with them when possible. She currently sleeps outside.
Millie loves to play with a thick knotted rope, her favourite thing to keep her entertained when in the yard. She doesn’t like to spend all day by herself and tends to dig and chew plants if she is lonely and bored. A big meaty bone would help entertain her as well as her thick rope of course! She wouldn’t suit a family that works long hours.
Millie loves a walk, she enjoys getting out and about visiting new places - absolutely loves swimming at the beach. Due to her size, Millie needs a walking harness as she is a strong girl and will pull just on a lead. She has been to a number of dog parks and happily plays with other friendly dogs. She is currently an only dog but wouldn’t mind a play mate. Millie hasn’t been exposed to cats and pockets pets so unsure how she would go with them.
Millie hasn’t had any formal training but can sit, stay and will come when called. She is such a smart girl that she would benefit from any training that you could give her. She hasn’t been allowed inside much so would need guidance in the toilet training department as well. She gets excited when around her owners, just so happy to see them. Giving her lots os love and attention will settle her down. Millie loves food so this will help with training.
Millie would love a family with teenage kids to play with or an active couple willing to give her the time and patience she needs to improve her training. She is located at Soldiers Point (Newcastle area).

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
