About Ella ~Border Collie x Kelpie pup (On Trial 13/5/17
Ella is an 18 week old Border Collie x Kelpie who just adores people. She is a unique colour for her breed (think chocolate Lab) with gorgeous Kelpie eyes and big fly away ears. This soft coated, ball of chocolate energy, truly is a little ray of sunshine. Her cuddles are guaranteed to brighten even the darkest day.
As a working breed, Ella has lots of energy to burn and will need to be matched with an active family. Kids who are used to dogs would be preferable, as she navigates her way through puppyhood and learns not to be over-zealous with her love. She already loves to follow the kids up on the tramp, so has the Kelpie ability to be agile and jump. She will therefore require 6ft colourbond fencing and secure gates. A doggy companion would be great for her too.
Ella is currently in care with a Cavalier King Charles and another Kelpie and adores playing with her brothers. It’s a real shame this beautifully natured pup has missed out on some vital socialisation time in her first months and as a result, is a bit nervous about meeting other dogs. She warms up very quickly once she realises she is not in danger, but in order for her to be the best she can be as a social family pet, her new family will have to commit to spending some time at puppy school, helping her to overcome her fear. She is very smart and so willing to please that with a bit of work, we are sure she will excel at obedience, agility and maybe even dog sports.
Ella is happy in the yard and her kennel during the day and comes in to sleep at night. She is a real snuggle bunny and loves her time on the lounge. She needs a good quality diet to give her little body everything it needs. She is currently eating a combination of dry food, my dog tinned food, cooked chicken, rice and veg and chicken necks. As Ella is close to the age for desexing she will not be available for interstate or distance adoption until that’s done. Local adoption will be fine at anytime.
For more information or to meet Ella, please contact Lauren at hitthesand@hotmail.com. Ella is currently in care in Salamander Bay in Port Stephens (north of Newcastle).
Ella's adoption fee is $550 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
