Meet Comet
This little friend was 3-4 weeks old and weighed 180 grams when she initially was brought to the emergency centre on Christmas Eve after being found by a member of the public. She was given the name Comet, after one of Santa’s reindeers. Comet was in extremely poor shape – she was underweight and had a high worm and flea burden. She had a large open discharging wound on her left hindleg, and smaller wounds on her right hindleg and behind both ears. Comet had also sustained a crushing injury to half her tail, which had to be partially amputated. X-rays taken of her left hindleg showed a growth plate injury, and given the poor prognosis to return to normal function, the decision was made to amputate her leg. After months of intensive treatment and tender loving care, Comet is now fully recovered and is a very happy little kitty. Despite having only three legs, she is not the least bothered by it and gets around easily without any problems. She is a true fighter and definitely deserves a second chance at life.
