About Dusty ~ Maltese x Poodle 5yo boy (On Trial 11/5/17
My name is Dusty. I’m a 5 yo Maltese x Poodle. I’m a little chap looking for love and my forever home. I haven’t had the best past but now I’m with my foster mum who is helping me out. She showers me with kisses, cuddles, walks, yummy food, trips to nanna and pop’s. I am learning lots of new things - how to play, what you do with toys and balls that people throw, and how to enjoy a good bone or chicken wing. Heaven, just heaven!
Let me tell you a few things about me:
- I love a walk and I’m very good on lead. I’ll need more time and training before being let off lead. I’m happy to sit on the grass and watch you push little humans on the swing.
- I didn’t have great food before being rescued so now I am grateful for anything that you give me. I love treats as well (hint hint).
- Foster mum has been helping me learn how to live inside and is housetraining me. I must be going pretty good because she gets happy and gives me pats and cuddles telling me I’m such a good boy when I go to the toilet outside.
- I love a cuddle and a lap to sit on and I am rather partial to sneaking into her bed and snuggling up for some more kip. I am happy to sleep on the end of the bed; my priority is just to be near you. Oh, I can’t believe all this existed and I was missing out on it. But I’m not shy to make up for it now.
- At the moment, I sleep in the laundry in a cozy bed with my special blanket.
- I live with a 6yo little girl who she picks me up, cuddles me, and talks to me (I don’t have a clue what she is saying but I’m happy to listen). She dances around me, wriggles, squirms and sleeps beside me and I have never once growled or made her feel scared of me.
- I have a low shedding coat so I need brushing, bathing and clipping.
- I do make a weird noise which my foster mum would say “no grumpy noises Dusty” but it didn’t take her long to work out that it’s just my noise I always make. I like it, so I’m keeping it.
- I answer to my name and my foster mum often tells me how clever I am. Other times it’s “I know you are ignoring me Mr”. What can I say, she wants me to go to my bed but I want to get into her bed. Or the lounge or anywhere warm and snuggly. I will nudge your hand for a pat.
- I really need someone who won’t leave me at home alone for long periods of time; just until I understand you will return soon. I don’t ever want to go back to the sad and lonely life I had before being rescued.
- My foster mum couldn’t tell the difference in me being 5 and nanna’s dog who’s 2. How’s that for young, fit and loving life.
When my foster mum first met me I was very confused and shy but once I understood that my foster mum loved and cared for me, made sure I had food in my tummy, a warm bed, belly rubs, a jacket, and love lots of love I knew I was safe and settled right in. So please all I ask is that you love me and care for me because I may be a little dog but I have more love and snuggles than my little body can hold. And that I will be yours forever.
