About Diego ~ Husky x Kelpie ~ On Trial 18/8/17
Introducing Diego - a lovely 4 year old Siberian Husky x Kelpie boy. Diego is a calm and well-mannered gentleman who has just the right balance of playful energy and chill out time. He loves to sit near you and supervise what you are doing. Diego is looking for his very own fun loving family who are after an obedient companion that they can love and take on family outings.
Diego is great with other dogs, he is in care with over a hundred other dogs. Diego would suit a loving home with another friendly dog or he would also be fine as a single dog as it just means more love for him! As with most arctic breeds he would best suit a home without pocket pets or cats.
Diego is friendly when meeting new people, sometimes he can be a little shy until he is confident in new surroundings. He is best suited to older kids due to his size and mild shyness. He enjoys pats and will happily lap up attention whenever it's offered. He would suit an active semi retiree couple or a family with older children. He may also suit a tradie or person who can take him to work.
Diego can jump most fences in a heartbeat as he's very agile (up to 7 foot). He will explore a little and come back when he's ready. Once he is settled in a new environment he will choose not to jump - his new family will need to ensure he has a roofed enclosure or is kept inside until he can be trained not to jump. Because of his fence jumping skills he would suit a rural property where he isn't near dangerous roads whilst he's taught that home is where the heart is. He would also suit townhouse or apartment living if he's walked every day or has a family where someone works from home. He is a loyal, loving boy and will repay you tenfold with love once you settle him in.
Diego is very smart and would excel at advanced training or dog sports like agility where he can show off his desire to please you.
If you are looking to adopt a gorgeous companion and are willing to put in the training to kerb his fence jumping then Diego would love to hear from you. Please contact Jo on email jo.payne.aus@hotmail.com or 0427 695 104 (after business hours only please). Diego is in foster care near Morisset, (NSW Central Coast) and is not available for interstate adoption.
Diego's adoption fee is $350 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
