About Buzz *pet of the month $150*
Hi everyone!
My name is Buzz. I am a sweet and happy young lad who loves to please and will be your best friend!
I am used to sleeping inside or out- I am very flexible. I am good inside; I rarely get into mischief, and when I do- it's only if my carers are silly and forget to put the lid on the bin! I sleep well at night and apart from trotting down the hall to check on you quietly, I'll leave you be and won't wake you up or disturb you etc. When I'm outside I like to hang out at the front door so I can track your comings and goings, or go for a nap in my kennel.
My favourite thing is belly rubs, and balls! I LOVE to play with balls of all sizes and both quiet and noisy/squeaky. You've never seen a dog focus as hard as I do when there's a ball in your hand! I absolutely adore playing fetch and tug-o-war! I also run around and play with a soccer ball. I'm a really playful and happy boy. I'm also really clever- I know 'in' and 'out' and 'downstairs', and I can sit and shake. I am not a fan of the dark, so I do like to have a light on for me if I'm sleeping outside. A simple motion sensor or porch light makes me feel safe.
I do not like other dogs, so I do need to go to a home where I will be the only dog. Before I was surrendered into care, my owners didn't take me to places with other dogs often and because of that, I don't know how to introduce myself nicely or get along with them. OTC have tried to help me with it and while I have improved; I am not suited to dog parks, play dates or any interaction with other dogs. My owner needs to understand this and not put me in situations where I will be meeting other dogs. I am fine to be walked; but you need to make sure I am wearing a strong collar (no breakaway collars!) and not going to hot-spot areas as I would hate to defend myself from another dog and get in trouble for it. Or if I will live in a highly populated area eg where a lot of dogs are walked, just put a muzzle on me for walks :) I don't mind wearing muzzles one bit and my rescue is going to send me with one anyway just so my owner knows I cant snap at any dogs! I also come with a nice 'NO DOGS' harness for me to wear while I'm on walks. In case you haven't heard of these yet- there is a company called 'Friendly Dog Collars' that has a huge range of colour-coded, need-specific collars/harnesses/leads that let people know from a distance what I need. Please be assured though- despite the fact I don't like other dogs, I would never hurt my carer. My fosters have tested me in many, many situations and I am nothing but loving and kind to them and their friends.
If there are dogs on the other side of my home fence I am ok with it- as long as the other dog won't harass me. My current foster has mesh fencing on one side, and wooden panels on the other and I am fine with the dogs on both sides. It's only if they yell at me that I yell back but I get used to them being around quickly and if you call out 'BUZZ! Come!' I will be right by your side waiting for your next instruction. I am definitely an easy dog to handle.
I have no known fears/phobias apart from being a little bit scared of the dark. I have improved in the time I've been in care; I used to cringe, hide and cry if you came near me at night- now I am mostly normal but just a bit more hesitant. My carers don't know what happened to me in the past, but maybe I associate night time with bad things? All my carers know is I was surrendered by my owner, who got me for free off Facebook from random people as a 1yr old. My recent owner had to move for work and their unit was way too small for me. I deserve a better yard than a completely concrete 3x3m!
If you'd like to meet me, please do. I promise I will be the happiest, most loving boy you've ever met.
Medical notes
Healthy, happy! In my photos you'll notice I have a weird patch on my right forearm- don't worry that's just where the drip went, for my desexing! The hair will grow back to match my other arm :)
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate, microchip number.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
