About Candy
Candy is a lovely-natured blonde fawn girl who has experienced a lot of rejection in her life, through no fault of her own. She dearly wants to be part of a loving family or a cherished companion for the rest of her life.
Candy is upbeat, friendly and always wagging her tail. Whilst she has lived with other med-large dog/s in the past, these days she is very happy & secure living as an only dog, and doesn't need to appreciate the joys of cats or pocket pets. Her lovely short, blonde coat (that rarely sheds) only enhances her impeccable indoor manners. Candy is relaxed and easy-to-please – a daily walk to fulfill her senses, small fenced yard to do a 1-minute zoomie, 2x good meals and some gentle strokes plus little chats with YOU. She enjoys sitting outside in the sun on a raised bed or deck – so she can see INTO the flowers in the garden rather than look UP at them.
Most importantly, she dearly loves to be inside with the family when they are home. She likes to help the kids do their homework and checks that mum hasn't forgot to prepare her dinner, too! Older kids would be preferred... "2yr old's tantrums are way too stressful', says Candy.
Candy would be an ideal companion for an active retiree or mature person who is perhaps working part-time, or partly from home. It is preferred that she is not left alone for a full work day. She is strong & healthy and does enjoy a good walk, which will keep you both fit & happy. She walks extremely well on lead. Candy will happily snooze after a walk and would love to sit beside when you watch tv. A warm snuggly bed just tops off her perfect day. Candy is a true low-maintenance gal...
Would you like to have this happy-go-lucky girl in your life?
Adoption details
Greyhounds are gentle, highly sensitive dogs that will surprise you with their ability to love and engage. It is expected that you will provide patience, love and encouragement to assist with the transition from life in a race kennel to becoming a pet and cherished part of the family unit.
They are mainly indoor dogs that need comfortable, safe places to sit and sleep so you must be prepared to accommodate this via suitable bedding and warm clothes in cooler months. They are low-shedding, and good for people with allergies. A safe, secure yard is required and they need a walk everyday and/or playtime in the backyard. Most greyhounds appreciate a clean, uncluttered grassy area where they can do their 1-minute 'zoomies' a couple of times a day.
Prospective owners contact carers via email or phone, they can come and meet the animal and make an application if they are suitable.
