About Lola ~ Shar Pei x Koolie puppy (On Trial 8/5/17)
Lola is a 9 week old Shar Pei x Koolie puppy. She is the most independent pup in the litter and prefers the company of humans over other dogs. She can be a little stand-offish at first but once she warms up to you, she will happily snuggle all day. Lola displays more Shar Pei characteristics than Koolie.
Lola is currently living with her 3 other litter mates, 3 adult dogs, 3 children aged 5-10 & an indoor cat.
Shar Peis, when well trained, make superb family dogs who are devoted to their owners and children. They are loyal, playful and active but can also be stubborn and territorial if not trained properly when young. They are naturally suspicious of strangers. They will be fine with cats if they have been introduced to them when puppies but there can be problems mixing with other dogs. They love being indoors and hate the cold.
Koolies are very active dogs because of their herding heritage. Even those kept as companion animals are working dogs who need plenty of exercise and, ideally, a job to do. The Australian Koolie is best suited to owners that are prepared to give their dog the stimulation that it needs, whether that is plenty of exercise and or obedience training. They are not a dog that you can leave in the backyard all day long. They are also not suited to the apartment environment.
Lola will grow up to be a medium-size dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Lola. If you don't have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time.
Lola needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 5 years and older. You need good fencing with no small gaps.
Lola's siblings: Sam, Oreo and Biscuit are also available for adoption.
As Lola is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
For more information or to meet Lola, please contact Victoria by emailing vdavies93@gmail.com. Lola is in the Newcastle area, NSW.
Lola's adoption fee is $500 and includes her desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and she's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
