About Henley *Free to Adopt in April*
There's no denying it - we know Henley is a stunning looking fellow and we know that's almost certainly why you're here. His blue grey coat and golden orb eyes draw anyone in. But we're going to be up-front about this - Henley is a project cat. He's not an "easy, fit right in cat." He's not a cuddly, sit on your lap cat.
What he is, is a little ball of opportunity and potential and LOVE. Henley was born on a small farm and had nothing to do with people at all for the first 4 months of his life. He roamed the farm and did his own thing. But of course that isn't a safe way to live and had he stayed out there longer it wouldn't have been long until he was busy producing more kittens. So he came into foster care.
It's taken Henley a pretty long time to come around to people but now he has finally worked out that we aren't SO bad, he's making lots of improvement in a short time. To begin with, you couldn't touch him at all. He hissed and ran away in terror. Now he is beginning to lean in to pats and arch his back as you run your hand down it. He has even been caught purring a few times!
Henley LOVES to play. He really loves entertaining himself with toys but above and beyond that he loves to play with other cats. We will only adopt him either with another cat or kitten, or to a home that already has a kitty in residence. A friendly, confident cat will play a huge role in showing him how to get along with people and be a happy family member.
When you get him home, he's gonna be terrified and totally freaked out. He must be kept in a very small area to begin with for quite a few weeks and you will need to force your attention on him because he won't come to you on his own and if you dont make him socialise, he will just retreat, find a hiding spot and ignore you completely.
Henley LOVES food, which is really helpful because you can build a friendship with him around roast chicken or tuna or some other tasty treat.
We know we're not making Henley sound very appealing and it's not that we don't love him and think he's a little star. We KNOW he's a little star and it would be heartbreaking to see him end up in the wrong place where he fades away instead of shining bright.
If you love this little guy as much as we do, if you want to work hard on a relationship that will hopefully last at least 15 years, if you want to truly save a kitty in need then please, get in touch. We would love to hear from you!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
