About Sam *On Trial in His New Home*
*SAM IS CURRENTLY TRIALING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* Meet Sam! If you’ve been looking for the companionship of a wonderful pet, and understand that age is no barrier to love this handsome little dog will make you fall in love all over again if you can just see past his greying muzzle and into his wonderful heart!
At 10 years young Sam still has plenty of life in him yet; our vets have declared he’s in excellent health, he even loves to run and fetch a ball from time to time! Sadly his beloved elderly owner passed away leaving him needing a new forever home, so we’ve promised to find Sam somewhere special where he can chill and enjoy his twilight years.
Sam is loveable, happy and totally thrives on human contact and likes being spoilt. He also enjoys a romp and a play with other friendly dogs though being the older gentleman that he is Sam prefers his company to be mature like himself; he doesn’t have the patience for puppies or silly young dogs, he’d much prefer a quiet home with an older dog or even a cat - guinea pig or birds wouldn’t matter either as he’s living with all sorts of critters in his foster home and they don’t faze him.
Affectionate but not in your face, this gorgeous fella brings joy to all who meet him. Sam has lovely manners; he doesn’t normally jump up on people unless he is asked to and he absolutely loves going for a walk and is terrific on lead. He will always ask nicely for a pat and sit quietly waiting for his treats (he enjoys Schmackos!) and is so gentle when he takes food from your hands. He is not a ‘yapper’ and his foster family have rarely heard him bark, although he will give a warning growl when the need arises.
Clever boy Sam is toilet trained, crate trained and sleeps right through the night (he sure loves a sleep in!), therefore, an indoor/outdoor lifestyle would suit him best with another dog for company if you were to be away at work for long hours each day.
Being a Maltese x Shih Tzu Sam doesn’t lose any hair though he’ll require a good brush once a week and a clip a few times a year to keep his coat in tip-top condition.

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
