About Chip
Meet our extra special residents Chip and Peyton!
These adorable siblings aren't your typical kittens... both Chip and Peyton have been diagnosed with a rare condition called Feline Myotonia Congenita. You may have seen this condition in 'Fainting Goat' videos online.
Myotonia is a genetic mutation resulting in involuntary sustained muscle contraction. There are quite a few clinical signs and side effects associated with this condition however the most prominent is that when they become startled their bodies freeze up their legs become stiff and they faint.
The fainting is usually very brief and doesn't typically require medical attention however it's important that Chip and Peyton only go home to a quiet and peaceful indoor environment to help prevent the fainting as much as possible. They should also avoid excessive exercise and their food intake should always be monitored. The good thing is their condition is not progressive and it isn't a severe case.
Chip and Peyton are not only super adorable but are such affectionate and loving kittens with such beautiful natures and we don't want to see them grow up in a shelter.
If you have space in your very big heart and your quiet home please come meet these adorable kittens at our Gold Coast Rehoming Centre and have a chat with our team about their condition
