About Buttercup
Hi everyone!
My name is Buttercup and I am as sweet as my name. I love everybody, and am deaf. At first I am very timid and shy, but once I warm up to you I am a fun, happy, cheeky young girl. I learn hand signs easily and am great with other dogs and kids. I am an intelligent and loving girl, and my lack of hearing doesn't set me back one bit.
So why am I here? Well, OTC offered my breeder a deal where the whole litter could be surrendered and mum desexed for free. They said no because they can 'find good homes themselves' but a month later, I and my sister were posted by the family I went to for giveaway- and I still hadn't received ANY vet work. I was terrified, and had a lot of fleas and worms and was malnourished. OTC swooped in and took us into care, got rid of all our parasites and got our vet work up to date. After just a few days our eyes cleared, skin brightened and poops became solid. Their fears about my hearing were confirmed and they began to train me with hand signals. Luckily the chance of us having any long term effect from our puppyhood is extremely low and I am very healthy and happy!
Medical notes
Deaf, learning hand signals.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate, microchip number and council registration, and will transfer the microchip into your name.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
