About Rocky
This stunning four year old male pure bred German Shepherd is Rocky who has come into our care from a Sydney Animal Shelter and is now in a foster home at Randwick in Sydney.
Rocky was found by rangers with his mate another young female German Shepherd they were brought into the animal shelter and his owner contacted. Now for reasons beyond our understanding the owner came and collected Rocky's female mate but left Rocky behind which as you could understand stressed him out.
To be left by his former owner was bad enough but to then taken away from his female mate placed Rocky into an extremely anxious state. So we took Rocky into our care and have been giving Rocky love and attention.
Rocky is now searching for a forever home with a committed owner who will ensure he never has to go through that trauma again. So if you have a loving home where Rocky can be an integral family member and have inclusion in the family home then call us.
Rocky is a striking looking shepherd with his full black masking and black saddle a true German Shepherd who will protect you with his life and be your loyal companion until the end.
Rocky is smart and eager to learn has huge potential if given proper training. He is house trained and well-mannered inside the home, and is quite happy to quietly nap by your side as long as he gets a walk and some mental stimulation every day.
At four years of age, he is well past the difficult puppy stage but still has moments of puppyish exuberance when he gets excited. In particular, he loves meeting new people and can jump up when he gets excited. Rocky is very strong on the lead and will need to be walked by a competent adult. We recommend using a head collar or a no-pull harness.
Rocky is learning his manners at his new foster home. He loves his food and will sit, lie down, shake, stay and “watch me” for a treat. However, as we believe he was rarely walked, the outside world is still very new and exciting for him. With all these new sights and smells, he has trouble focusing and would need a dedicated owner to work with him so he will listen to commands outdoors.
Rocky is friendly and sociable with dogs of all sizes. Rocky is currently living with a cat, and may be suited to be homed with a dog-savvy cat if proper careful introductions are made. Due to his size and strength, we recommend Rocky go to a home with no young children as he may accidentally knock them over.
Rocky MUST go to a home where he will be allowed inside and be an integral family member. He is very friendly and would not cope with being left outside to guard the house. He is a bit of a couch potato and his favourite places are the sofa and the bed, although he could easily be taught to stay off human furniture as long as he had a nice plush bed of his own.
Rocky has lived with his fellow female mate and we can see he would be a good companion dog for a similar size female dog. Rocky has not been tested with pocket pets or stock.
Medical notes
Rocky has been desexed, vaccinated and heart worm tested negative. He is on flea and heart worm control and will be professionally groomed prior to going to his forever home.
