Sheldon ~ 2.5yo Lab x Kelpie boy (On Trial 8/4/17)

Sheldon, the very handsome black Labrador x Kelpie is looking for a new family! This beautiful young boy will be three years old in June.

Sheldon is a happy boy who loves to play fetch and is an expert at this game. He literally flies through the air to catch a ball or toy. Sheldon’s training is quite substantial, knowing how to sit, down, stay, drop back, shake, wait for food and go to bed. He is exceptionally smart so the stimulation of extended training would be great for him and he is a quick learner. Sheldon is fully toilet trained and sleeps inside on his bed.

Sheldon is a friendly dog and likes people! He does prefer a little time to get to know you first. He may jump up to say “ hello” but settles down very quickly. He is not a barker but will let you know if someone is at the door. Now, Sheldon likes a walk, he gets a little excited to get out so a walking harness is a good idea otherwise he may pull when he meets other dogs. He is a little bit wary of other dogs at first, especially those that a larger then him, so he just needs slow introductions (Though he is not aggressive at all).

Sheldon, being part Kelpie, does need 6ft fences. He hasn’t actually jumped over a fence before but we would like to keep him safe in a secure yard. Sheldon has lived with another dog before but would be quite happy to be an only dog as long as his new owner is happy to play fetch with him, take him for walks and continue his training. He does keep himself entertained in the back yard but not for really long hours.

Sheldon would be a great addition to a family with older children, 10 years and above. He needs a family that are active, that are dog experienced and one where he will be a family member. Are you the right family for this lovely boy?
