About Holly
Hi there, my name is Holly and I've been known to melt many a heart. This is my story...
I was surrendered to Lort Smith when my humans could no longer care for me. I am an old girl and over time I have completely lost my eye sight due to cataracts. The lovely staff here have tried all they could to give me the gift of seeing again, however after numerous appointments with an eye specialist, it turns out I'm not a good candidate for eye surgery as my retinas are unhealthy. This means I will be completely blind for the rest of my life.
But that's okay, I'm quite comfortable the way I am and nothing has really fazed me from exploring my surroundings. A few head bumps here and there, but I still manage to follow my nose and ears, and find my way around. Using a clicker also helps me to navigate, especially on my daily walks.
I'm quite a confident girl and I have a lot of trust in my handlers. I love cuddles and pats and I also love to play with other dogs. Generally I'm great with other dogs but if I could find myself a furry mate that is gentle and calm to help guide me, that would be awesome.
I wouldn't consider myself disadvantaged in any way. I'm a relaxed happy girl and I can still be your furry best friend like any other dog. I have plenty of love to give. I do hope my future carers are home most of the time though to assist me if I needed it and I would very much appreciate being indoors as I love having company.
That's my story - if you would like to know anything about me, the staff here are happy to help. Please come and give me a pat, I would love to meet you and you might be lucky enough to score a kiss!
Medical notes
Completely blind.
