About Mickey (Special Needs) - on Trial
Mickey had a bad start to life. He came from the home of a hoarder who died and the dogs who were left with no food or water were not discovered for 5 days. Mickey was found in a cage with another dog, that sadly was deceased.
Mickey was in the care of the RSPCA vet who fostered him whilst he underwent medical treatment. He has now been in Wally’s care for 1 month and is slowly beginning to trust his new foster family.
Mickey is very playful with his 4 other foster siblings and initiates play with his human foster family but is still quite timid and weary. He craves affection but will only allow short intervals at this stage. He also loves his toys and his crate is his safe haven.
Mickey walks extremely well off leash. He stays within a couple of feet and does not run off. He is still learning to walk on leash as he gets very excited and can get caught up in the leash at times. Toilet training is also a work in progress and needs ongoing training in this area.
Mickey has been desexed and has undergone major dental work. He is also heartworm positive, treatment being 1 Heartguard chew each month for 18 months. We will supply this medication to the successful adoptee.
Despite Mickey’s awful introduction to life he has retained his happy & excited personality. He is not demanding in any way. He is still a little thin but has a big appetite so it won’t take long for him to get to an ideal weight. Mickey would be best suited to a home with a single older person and another doggy friend or 2 for company. He is very protective of his owner and for this reason, would not suit a home with young children.
Mickey is located in Toukley, on the Central Coast, NSW and is available for a meet and greet now.

Wally's Doggie Rescue put a lot of time and effort into ensuring our dogs/pups are sociable and made to feel part of the family, so in considering adoptions, these are the type of things we will be looking for in a new family.
