About Darcy ~ Maltese x Shih Tzu (on trial 6/04/17)
Darcy is a really happy, excitable 4.5 year old Maltese x Shih Tzu who loves people and children. He likes lots of attention and lots of love! Who wouldn’t want to give him this, look at his face!
Darcy is a fairly big boy, weighing around 10kgs and is long and solid. So with this in mind, Darcy loves FOOD. Yes, he will do anything for food and just wants to be around the family (who may just be nice enough to give him some treats ).
Darcy is crate trained and likes to sleep in his crate. He has been living outside so may need a reintroduction to house training. He also has had some training, can sit and needs someone willing to give him the time to extend his training. He can be a bit of a jumper and barker as he gets so excited to see everyone and tends to pull a bit on lead when walking, again, just so happy to be out and about. Training in these areas would be a benefit.
Darcy currently lives with another dog but he is very submissive so would be a great only dog. He does get along with other dogs once introduced but if scared or worried, he will choose to walk away therefore needs more socialisation with other dogs.
Darcy just wants to curl up on someone’s lap. He would suit a family with children 10 years or older or a retired couple but cannot be left long periods on his own. Cats are not an issue for Darcy. He will need regular grooming.
For more information or to meet Darcy, please contact Sharron on 0423 331057 or email sstudley3@bigpond.com. Darcy is in foster care in Greta, NSW (near Maitland) and is available for adoption interstate.
Darcy's adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
