About Albie ~ Border Collie x Shih Tzu (On Trial 1/4/17)
Albie is about 18 months old and we believe he is a border collie X shih tzu. There is so much about him that is completely adorable. He is full of energy and affection. He loves to sit on the lounge with you and have a snuggle just as much as he loves to chase a ball.
Albie was quite shy when he first came to us but that only lasted a very short time. He quickly became a part of our family and a very good friend to our own furry friend.
He loves going for a walk but needs a little training on the lead. I have tried him on a ‘gentle leader’ and it remedied the issue immediately. He really likes water and although I haven’t ventured to the beach with him I am sure he would love it.
He is very gentle with big and small people so would be an excellent family pet.
Albie is much happier when he has company so the ideal family would have someone at home a lot of the time and another dog to play with. He isn’t a dominant character so a small dog friend would be okay too.
Although Albie has never tried to escape from our yard you will need high fences because he has been known to climb smaller fences in the past. Having said that I think he was left home alone a lot and he was only trying to get out because he was lonely. He likes to have toys that he can chew so that he doesn’t chew your things instead.
Albie will require regular grooming to keep him looking he is best and be allowed inside the house to have human time.
For more information or to meet Albie please contact his foster carer Alison on 0435 535 338 or email alisonmgreenwood@gmail.com. Albie is in foster care in New Lambton, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Albie's adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
