About Rosie - Special Needs
***Update***
Rosie is doing so well with her new treatment plan, her drooling has stopped and her breath is a bit nicer! Rosie now no longer requires monthly antibiotic injections, but she will need the odd long acting cortisone injection, if her gums flare up. Rosie is such a sweet, affectionate girl and will make the most loving companion for a very special home!

Please say hello to gorgeous Rosie!
We rescued Rosie over 4 years ago, from a backyard breeder, who had forced her to breed at a very young age, in terrible condition. This resulted in her having no milk for her kittens and no idea how to care for them. Sadly, by the time we were alerted to Rosie’s dire situation, all but 1 of her kittens had died and heartbreakingly, by the time we were able to secure Rosie and her remaining 3 day old kitten, (who we named Angel), Angel was near death and despite doing all we could, she died just hours after arriving in care.
Once Rosie had recovered from her ordeal, she was adopted by a dear friend of ours, who has for the last 4 years, given Rosie the most beautiful life we could ever have hoped for. Tragically, due to circumstances beyond her control, Rosie’s mum is no longer able to house her, so Rosie has come back to HQ, to search for a very special forever home.
Due to her horrific treatment prior to originally being rescued, Rosie has a very weak immune system and this has resulted in a couple of chronic health conditions, which require some ongoing care. Rosie’s health conditions have absolutely nothing to do with her returning to HQ, her mum has done an exemplary job of caring for her special needs and Rosie will need a home that is equally committed to maintaining her health going forward.
Rosie has chronic gingivitis and chronic epiphora (runny eyes). Despite multiple dental extractions and a myriad of medications, Rosie’s gingivitis is constant, though this and her epiphora are both kept in check with a monthly antibiotic injection, which costs around $50.
Side effects of her conditions are that her breath is a bit on the nose (though there are a number of products that may assist with this) and she does at times drip ‘eye juice’, but other than this, she is a happy, friendly, otherwise healthy girl who loves to chill on the couch and generally smooch around. Rosie would like to be the only cat in her forever home, but she is rather partial to friendly dogs!
Rosie is looking for a home that will accept her special needs and that is committed to continuing with her monthly injections.
If you think you have the perfect home to offer our dear Miss Rosie, you can complete an adoption questionnaire on our website! xo
Rosie is in care in Morwell but can be brought to Mooroolbark for a meet. She is not available for interstate adoption.
