About Gypsy ~ BC x Kelpie, 5yo girl (On Trial 23/4/17)
Gypsy is a beautiful 5 year old, female, Border Collie x Kelpie with lovely markings. She is active, loyal and loving. She loves going for walks and chasing a ball (for as long as you will throw it), swimming, and the hose. She is known to be very gentle with small children as she has been living with a toddler.
Gypsy is happy to sleep inside or outside on her dog bed but in her current home she sleeps inside. She is house trained so she will let you know when she wants to go outside by “knocking” at the door. Gypsy will place her toys in your clean washing basket to get you to throw it for her! She loves to chase and retrieve! She is also a fantastic guard-dog as she is very protective of her yard (you'll know if someone that she doesn't know comes in) or if strangers come too close to your fence. She is not a nuisance barker. She is also not a digger, she will hide her good treats and come back to them later to feed on. She is not a fan of skateboards and small bikes and doesn't like it if they come too close. She doesn’t even like the wheels on the vacuum! A good excuse to get out of house work!
Gypsy has been swimming quite a few times and if you say “Gypsy, go for a swim”, she will! Gypsy has not been around other dogs much but has shown no aggression towards them when at the beach. She has recently been to the park to meet other dogs and she was good but prefers to interact with dogs her own size rather than small fluffy dogs. We don’t believe she’s suitable for cats, rabbits or guinea pigs.
Gypsy understands “outside” (as in get outside), “on your bed” (for bedtime or time out), “sit”, “want to go for a car ride”? and “where’s the ball”? She is best trained using a ball to reward her. Gypsy will need a well fenced yard and would love to go to an active family who has time to show her heaps of love and ongoing training so that she is able to thrive. We don’t believe that Gypsy needs to be surrounded by humans all the time but she would definitely love to be included as part of the family.
For more information or to meet Gypsy, please contact her Donna on 0466 099 426 or email trudgetty@hotmail.com. Gypsy is in foster care in Warabrook, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Gypsy's adoption fee is $350 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
