About Mack ~ On Trial 12/4/2017
Hi, I'm Mack and I'm a very special 3 month old male Boxer puppy. As you can see from my photos I am adorable and I've got a beautiful temperament that matches my suave good looks. On top of being a charmer I have a very special quality as I'm deaf. My deafness doesn't dampen my zest for life and it makes me even more adorable in my innocence. I'm currently looking for a wonderful family who can commit to the extra training and care that deaf dogs like me need over our lifetime.
I’m a real snuggler once I know you - I love giving and receiving puppy cuddles. I’ve got a lightning bolt of pale blue colour in my right eye that makes me even more unique. I'm in foster care with 4 other dogs and I love playing with them. Big, small, young, old - I love being friends with them all! Because of my deafness other dogs can find my love for them annoying as when I’m really playful I sometimes miss out on other dogs social cues when they want a break. So I need to be adopted by a family with a calm, tolerant and playful dog who doesn't mind if I'm in-his-face with friendliness and game playing. I won't do well in a single dog family sorry as I love to follow other dogs - I'm simply not confident in my silent world without another dog.
I can be quiet meeting new people so my new family needs to keep me well socialised as a pup and commit to my constant socialisation as I grow older and experience more of the world outside my yard. My perfect family would be one with a couple who understand my special long-term requirements. If there are children in the family it is best that they are older so that all family members can be involved in my training and all have plenty of time to spend with me.
Although I'm just a baby I've already started learning basic sign language - I'm learning Good Boy, Look-at-me, Come and Sit. I'm also learning to have good eye contact and to watch my foster family's faces. Learning to look at my family for guidance is very important for my sign language training and for my long term communication and social skills.
I'm too little to go out walking now but once I'm older I'll need a daily walk or run for exercise and mental stimulation. I am never allowed off lead when we are out as it's too dangerous for me - I can't hear cars and you can't call me back. I am an inside puppy and must be allowed inside with my family when they are at home – even when I’m older. I enjoy playing in the sunshine in a safe yard with my canine friends. I sleep well inside at night - snuggling with my foster brothers and sisters on our beds.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
