Billi

Delightful Billi is simply a pleasure to be around! Billi’s zest for life is endearing. She is a small sized kelpie girl with plenty of personality and a wonderful honest nature.

Billi loves her people and likes to be part of the goings on! She gets along well with other dogs, accepting her kelpie foster sisters’ reminders to behave, and frequently coaxing her big kelpie foster brother into zooming games, or a wrestle on the grass. If no-one will play, she entertains herself well, flipping her rope toy about and pottering off to say hello to the calf or to intensely stare at the chooks as they peck around the place.

Billi showed keen instinct when tried on sheep, and has plenty of confidence. With training and encouragement, she would most likely make a handy worker.

Being a clever little miss, Billi learns quickly. She has mastered to sit and wait for her dinner, she walks on lead without pulling (most of the time!), and her recall is good (with the odd reminder when there are lots of distractions!). Billi can get a little too enthusiastic at times and mouth at your sleeves, but responds to “no” readily. She takes treats gently even with other dogs around, revels in praise, and with ongoing training would learn anything you chose to teach her!

Billi has plenty of spunk, and willingly helps you with chores – collecting up your gardening tools, picking up your shoes on the deck, and grabbing the odd bit of wood or kindling – all very helpful however not always the assistance you required! After a busy morning, she will flop on the deck or lie on her back with her legs kicked up in the air while you break for lunch. As soon as you appear again, Billi is ready to go as your right hand girl.

Billi quietly lies on her comfy bed on the deck in the evenings, when encouraged that it is time to settle. Billi is quiet in her dog run at night, and patiently waits at the gate in the mornings for the day to commence - at the sight of you she greets you with exuberance and warmth, wiggling her little body around with pure joy!

She travels in the ute tray well and follows the four wheel bike around the paddocks. Billi is good around the horses (with the odd reminder to get “out” when she thinks you need help keeping them in line!). She will follow along on a horse ride, and stays in the vicinity when you are busy on the farm, fencing or doing jobs. If not in sight, a whistle sees Billi bound towards you, never far away! She has just worked out she can swim - splashing in the dam to follow the lead of her kelpie foster siblings for a cool off.

Billi is fostered on acreage with farm fencing and does not wander when her humans are home. A young kelpie with smarts and spirit, Billi will do best in a home with time to spend with her. The country life and wide open spaces are a good match for her. She would suit an individual, couple or family with older children. Billi would be happy as an only dog getting all the interaction with her humans to herself, or with an older dog as a mentor.

Billi is a super adorable, vivacious girl with a genuine heart, looking for that special human friend to share the adventures of the world with her!
