About Abbie
Please note: We are looking to rehome Abbie to an adult home with another placid dog for company.
Sweet Abbie loves cuddles and being with her people every possible minute of the day. She thrives in the company of other dogs and loves to play with them, steal the ball and play tug of war.
Abbie understands the commands; sit, drop, stop, treat, ready (for the ball), give (the ball which she just sits down and rolls on her back), down (off the couch/do not jump), stay, heel and in the car. Some further training and guidance will also assist with her confidence and obedience.
At this stage we feel Abbie would not be best suited to a home with small children as unexpected noises and people running around the house tend to scare her. Her new family will be dedicated to helping her gain confidence around things she hasn’t experienced before.
Abbie loves her exercise which is important for her as she is an energetic girl. Once she has had her exercise she is happy to just cuddle on the couch. Being an intelligent dog mental stimulation is also important for Abbie. Fun toys such as rope, balls and chew treats help to keep her mind occupied.
Abbie is a stunning girl who will be a loyal and devoted companion.

All dogs that come into the care of Victorian Dog Rescue are tested for heart worm.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer a six-week full refund, free assistance for six weeks for any issues, and a lifetime takeback policy with a fifty percent refund of the adoption fee, and of course an invitation to our adopters’ Christmas party.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
