About Roscoe
Gorgeous man Roscoe is in need of somewhere to spend his days relaxing.
He will be 6 years old in September, is fully house trained.
Roscoe LOVES his people and car trips. He is a big boy weighing in at 40kg, so needs a strong owner.
Roscoe does not like other dogs, so he will need an only animal forever home.
Roscoe needs a pet free home with strong boundaries in place.
Here is some info from the last couple of weeks in foster care.
"Hi my name is Peggy-Lou and I have been fostering the very lovable Roscoe.........he is a beautiful big, strong, stubborn boy – very sensible and wise. From the minute he arrived he kept his cards to his chest, not giving much away. He would give the odd wag of a tail, but all in all he was reasonably reserved and it was clear that we both had to earn the respect of each other and grow our bond slowly. But after a week – he had settled wonderfully into his new digs and seemed very happy and content – loving his kisses and cuddles and wags aplenty!
It was quite apparent from the beginning, that if you gave him an inch he would go to Perth. So I set rules and boundaries and quite frankly stuck to them. Because Roscoe is such a big strong boy, he will try to make his own rules and push your boundaries. But once the rules were in play and I kept reinforcing them – he has adapted wonderfully and has been the almost perfect well behaved boy in the making.
Roscoe is a terrific inside boy. He has been sleeping inside overnight in his crate, with a pillow, mattress .....And there he stays, as quiet as a mouse until it’s time to get up in the morning. He is not destructive and will just spend his time sleeping. He loves to laze in the sun and I often find him wherever the sun is shining – be it inside or on his bed on the veranda. Roscoe loves to snuggle.......Roscoe will certainly come to you and put a strong paw on your leg to ask for a cuddle if you are busy around the house and he thinks you haven’t been paying him much attention. If you tell him you are busy he will humph and walk away and proceed to sit and watch you but if you ask him if he wants a cuddle he will waggle his bum and say thank you I certainly do!
Eating
Roscoe luuuuvvvs his food!! Not to mention he was a little butter ball when he arrived – a whopping 40.3kg.
**Roscoe needs grain free food as he tends to get very red and itchy skin otherwise and since he has been on that here his skin has much improved.
Exercise
Roscoe has been walking every day, which he loves, for about 30+ minutes (2.3-2.9km) He is certainly not the marathon man but he does love to get out and have a walk.
Animals
Roscoe has apparently in the past not wanted to share his family with other 4 legged pets. When walking, he has shown great interest in other dogs – we have taken a very wide berth. Caution should be taken when walking. At present when we see another dog we tend to keep on the opposite side of the road and as we pass I will say ‘forward’.
Car
Roscoe loves the car and happily jumps in and sits in the back of my SUV looking out the back window as we travel.
Playing
Roscoe occasionally plays with his toys – he loves squeaky ones – which last for about 5 minutes – depending on the durability. He has taken to teddy – who he picks up and carries around when he is sulking if you don’t have time to give him a cuddle.
He has a thick rope toy in the yard we play tug o war with.
Toileting
Roscoe is terrific at toileting..... when I’m home during the day the backdoor is usually left open a little for him to come and go as he pleases. If it’s closed and he needs to go out he will go and stand by it.
I wish you all the best with this most beautiful, loyal, affectionate boy. Without doubt he will give you many years of unconditional love."
All the best
Peggy-Lou
