About Lockyer
Lockyer is such a sweet and happy little soul. He has so much character due to his tongue hanging out permanently. He is never slowed down by his wonky little mouth, he eats and drinks really well and he just loves giving sloppy kisses!
When Lockyer came into care, he was suffering from anaemia, a skin infection, dry eye and the obvious dental issues. Lockyer has malocclusion, his teeth are overcrowded and misaligned. He has had surgery to remove some retained tooth roots, but there is no further treatment required for his dental issues. He requires daily eye drops, but is perfectly behaved for these and lies happily on his foster mums lap for his medication.
Lockyer is a sweet natured little guy. He does find new people and new situations quite scary. He sometimes barks at strangers and doesn't really like going for walks as he finds the big world a bit overwhelming. We think the poor little guy hasn't had alot of socialisation in the past. However, when he recently visited the school that the children in his foster family attend, he was very happy to be gently stroked by the other kids, so he would never be aggressive.
He lives in a household with children, cats and other dogs and gets along with everyone he meets. There are also chooks living in his foster home and he gives not attention at all to the chooks or the cats! His foster mum thinks he would do best in a home with other dog. He thoroughly enjoys a game with the kids and the other dogs in his foster home!
Locky would be happiest in a home where he has plenty of company and is not left on his own for long periods of time.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Whilst in our care, Lockyer has had dental xrays and dental surgery. He has recovered well and does not require further treatment. Lockyer suffers from Dry Eye and will need daily eye drops for the rest of his life.
