About Shaxel
9 month old Axel is a smart, playful, fun dog. In the care of a confident handler who is comfortable with large breeds he will make a great pet. He has been raised as an indoor dog and loves being around people so he must be allowed inside often. Ideally his new owner will be home a lot as he can get a little stressed if left alone too long. He is house trained and knows how to use a dog door. He will need to be an only dog at his new home and he is not cat friendly.
He walks really well on lead using a halti but will pull when he sees another dog. He will need further training at puppy school and socialisation with other dogs is very important as he has some aggression with other dogs.
Axel is generally well behaved but he is overly excited and boisterous when I get home, however this is getting better with continued training. He is good in the car and knows basic commands. Axel is very timid when he first meets people but warms to them quickly. He seems to bond with men but not women and if adopted by a family would be better suited to a home with older children.
He will need a couple of 20 minute walks a day or one long walk. Because of his intelligence he will also benefit from some enrichment toys to keep him mentally stimulated throughout the day.
