About Spike
Little snuggler with a huge personality! Spike loves to be with you, he loves people, he loves dogs, he loves life. As cute and cuddly as Spike is, he will need a home that is committed to training and exercise, or he will walk all over you! A very smart boy, I am sure Spike would enjoy agility, flyball, trick training etc.
Spike likes to sit on your lap, whether you are watching tv or enjoying the sunshine outside, he would love to sit on your lap. But he will also sit quietly on his own when asked. Spike sleeps inside in his bed in his foster carer’s bedroom... but he would really prefer to sleep in bed with you if he is allowed!
He enjoys his walks and is walking well on lead. He knows sit, on your mat, and to wait before eating. Is toilet trained. Enjoys car rides. His recall is coming along, but if there is something more interesting in sight (like rabbits or another dog) then he pretends he can’t hear! With the correct training, and a bond with his owner, Spike’s recall will be fine, but it is something that will take time.
The ideal home for Spike would be a home that can exercise him every day and provide ongoing training. He would be a perfect companion for another small dog, or a kelpie, he loves his kelpie foster sibling and they wrestle and play. He is just a pup still and loves to play.
We do not know what he is like with cats.
Spike does bark when the neighbour’s dogs bark or he hears them running up the side of the fence.
As he is small he can fit through small gaps in fencing, so a secure yard is a must.

OUR ADOPTION PROCESS
1. You see a dog you like.
2. Fill in our online adoption form by clicking here or on our website. Be sure to include any questions you may have on our adoption form. This form does not obligate you to adopt, it simply gives us an idea of your situation and needs.

3. If your are successful, one of our volunteers will contact you to organise a meet and greet at your home and conduct a yard check at the same time.
4. Should all go to plan, you will be welcomed to start your 2 week trial period immediately. Adoption fee will be required to be paid at the beginning of the trial period.
During the 2 week trial period, should you decide that this dog is not for you, you are welcome to return the dog (the more notice the better, to ensure we have a foster carer available) and your payment will be retunded to you in full, within 3 business days of the return of the dog.

We are a volunteer run organisation, who have their own jobs during the day, we don't have someone manning our phones 24/7, therefore cannot respond to all inquiries immediately. The fastest way to have your questions answered is to include it in the application form. This will speed up your application with us, and help us communicate with you faster.
Please be patient with us, as the unpredictable nature of rescue may prevent us from clearing all enquiries regularly.
