Terra

Terra is a very special older dog who needs a special owner who understands the breed, their temperament and requirements. Terra is very people centric and wants to please. She is a gentle girl, highly intelligent and very loyal. Like all belgian shepherds, she needs to be with someone who works from home, or is about a lot and does not leave her alone for hours on end. If you work full time or spend long hours away from home and she can’t be with you then this is not the dog for you. She gets on with other dogs, she does not put up with other dogs hassling her so soon gives a little growl to put them in their place. She can be bossy in her own domain but soon rolls over if put in her place. She loves to play with other dogs and with people. She is great with kids and she is well socialized. She is house trained. I always make sure they have access to outside via a doggy door and i also make sure they go to the loo every 2-3 hours if they are inside and i take them out early in the morning. She is very people centric and can be demanding. She will nudge you if you are not giving her the attention she deserves. Terra has been re-homed a couple of times before. After getting her australian championship, she was sent to another breeder where she had a couple of litters and then was retired. In may 2006 she came to happypaws haven where she stayed as a family member just over a year. An older friend lost his own dog and was looking for a full time companion and fell in love with terra so she was re-homed on the understanding that if anything happened to him she would be returned. In april this year her owner became ill and passed away. When he became ill he returned terra to happypaws haven as agreed. She is used to having the company of a full time human so needs to be in a home with people who are home most of the time who need a real companion dog. She sleeps in the house either on or beside the bed on a dog mat and is as good as gold until morning. She has passed her basic manners, basic obedience and basic agility at grafton dog obedience club. She is also a bit of a show pony, she stamps her feet when she plays and grins with her mouth opens just like gaping at a fish bowl. I am extremely fussy about where she is going and it needs to be with someone who has the time to be with her most of the time as a companion dog or who does work from home. She also needs to be an inside/outside dog as she is typical of her breed and is very human centric. She has a lovely personality, soft nature, but can hold her own if necessary and wants to be with you all the time. Terra loves cuddle. She can be protective of her owner, she gets on with other dogs and is mystified by cats. She is not sure whether to be friends or to bark at them. She will follow you everywhere, even to the bathroom and is always happy to see you and to meet your friends. She loves her walks but really wants to be with you all the time
