About Jessie ~ 10yo Groodle girl (On Trial 2/3/17)
This beautiful girl is Jessie, a 10 year old Groodle (Golden Retreiver x Poodle). She loves people, especially kids, and would like to find a family where she will have lots of love and attention.
Jessie absolutely loves pats and cuddles. She is happy to lounge around with humans all day and she is great with kids of all ages. She is an older dog but she is still very playful and runs around with our other dog. Her favourite toys are rope toys and her favourite game is tug of war (which can make walking a bit difficult at times as she likes to bite and play with the lead a little). She has some basic training.
Jessie currently sleeps outdoors in a kennel on our deck. She has previously been an inside dog and at the moment she stays locked on the deck at night and very rarely has an accident unless we're late letting her out. She is scared of thunder and if stuck outside will try to get inside or escape to find her humans so she needs to be inside if there is a storm.
Jessie is usually good with other dogs and would be happy to have a playmate. She wouldn’t mind being an only dog so long as she got to be around her humans a lot. She has been living with a labradoodle for 3 years. The only thing to watch is that she needs to be fed separately as she can be a bit protective of her food with other dogs (not with humans though, she will sit and wait for food). She does bark at cats in excitement so is best in a household without cats. We are not sure how she would go with birds or pocket pets.
I think Jessie would suit an active retiree or part time worker - someone who has plenty of time and wants companionship but who is also fit enough to handle walking her. She would also suit a family who are happy to have her inside around the children. As I mentioned before she has been an inside dog previously, but sadly we have not been able to have her inside because of mine and my children’s allergies. She has had a couple of homes but I don't think that’s a reflection on her - just bad luck with owners and circumstances. She’s very social and gets along with all kinds of people.
Jessie is a very sweet, easygoing girl who would love to find her forever family.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
