About Jasper ~ On Trial 11/3/17
Hi, I'm Jasper! I’m a 4 year old scruffy Jack Russell terrier x . I'm not over-the-top energy wise like some of my fellow terriers although I would enjoy a daily walk so that I can meet new people and have a good sniff around the neighbourhood. I would love a furever family who will let me in the house whenever they are home and who will let me sleep inside. I'm not suited to a home where I'm left outside on my own as I will bark at the door to be let back in - I'm just a social boy who prefers to be where my humans are.
I'm in foster care with another young, playful dog and her bubbly exuberance is a little too much for me. It took me a little time to get used to her shenanigans and now we coexist together quite comfortably, however because I’m more of a people dog, I'd be happy in a home where I was the only dog too. If I was matched with an older, independent small dog that might work for us too.
I respond best to rules and boundaries (like staying off the bed) otherwise I can get a little too big for my own boots! I happily sleep on my own bed on the floor now and will learn quickly to stay off the furniture when told. I would love a family who are experienced with cheeky terriers and who will show me consistency, routine and continue my training using positive techniques.
I can still have accidents inside if you don't remember to encourage me to go outside to the toilet during the day. My new family will need to be understanding of this and commit to teaching me the correct place to toilet to help me settle into my new home. I would love a yard where I could run around, however I would also be suitable to a small yard with as long as I was walked every day. I'm best suited to a home with no pocket pets, cats or birds as I am far too interested in them.
My perfect home would be with a couple or single of any age, with someone home a lot if I'm an only dog. If I do have an older canine companion then I’m fine in the yard with them whilst you go off to work. I may be a good match with older, sensible teenagers who are respectful and confident with dogs or a family where the children have left the nest.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
