About Oscar & Missy ~ JR x Foxy pair (on trial 16/03/17)
Oscar, a 3 year old Jack Russell, and Missy, a 6 year old Miniature Foxy, are a bonded pair looking for a family to call their own and would very much like to stay together.
They absolutely love a fuss and attention – Oscar loves a belly rub and Missy loves a lap to curl up on. When their foster family are busy they will happily play tug of war with their toys or snooze the day away together.
Oscar is 3 years old and has lived with Missy since he was 8 weeks old. He is extremely food driven and has taken to training like a duck to water. He sits, drops and has excellent recall. He has the kindest face and a sweet, sweet soul which seems older than his years.
Missy is 6 years old and what she lacks in size she certainly makes up for in personality! She can be a bit of a bossy boots! When she wants attention she’ll wag her tail so hard her whole body wiggles and will make squeaky guinea pigs sounds. She is hilarious!
Both dogs are great with children and are living happily with a 7 and 8 year old, but due to their size they would not be suited to a home with children younger than this. They are currently living with 5 other dogs and a cat that they get along fine with.
Having spent their life left in a garden with very little attention or contact with the outside world, they are still getting used to new things like rides in the car and meeting other dogs, but with constant reassurance they are growing in confidence more and more every single day. Their foster family is astounded by the progress they have made in the short amount of time with them.
Missy and Oscar love being inside dogs and are both fully housetrained – they are certainly quick learners! They will need to be kept as inside dogs and it wouldn’t take them long to master a doggy door. They are fine when left alone and could cope if their new family worked.
They are both growing in confidence on their walks and are learning to walk nicely on the lead. Missy can be a little nervous of meeting other dogs for the first time, but with some reassurance she will say hello and is secretly keen to make new friends. Once she gets over her initial shyness she can be quite the little flirt! Oscar will initially engage with other dogs but will lose interest very quickly and would prefer a pat from a human.
They are still getting used to things on the outside world and will need someone to continue with their training and socialisation. Anyone willing to do this will have a awesome pair of dogs and an endless supply of love and laughs!
If you feel you could offer this loveable pair a home together please contact Vivienne on 0424 410 052. Oscar and Missy are in foster care in Umina Beach, NSW (Central Coast) and are not available for adoption interstate.
Their adoption fee is $650 and they are desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
