About Rover
Handsome Rover is a charming little fellow who has a lovely relaxed and friendly nature. He weighs in at 10 kg and stands about 18 inches at the shoulder.
Rover spent his early years living with an aboriginal family in Tennant Creek. There were kids of all ages and lots of other dogs in the family. He would have gone everywhere with them, down the street and around to other homes, so he is brilliantly socialised to dogs and people.
Unfortunately he ran into some bad luck when the police accidentally knocked him over. His family could not afford his vet fees, so they surrendered him to us to rehabilitate and rehome him. He had a fractured pelvis and had to have cage rest for a month, but was such a good boy, and always let us know when he needed a toilet break. Now 2 months later he is all healed. He is nice and square in the hips and walks normally, just having a slightly wonky gait at he back when he runs. He can run around no worries, and really loves a walk and a run.
Rover sits, comes when he's called, and walks nicely on a lead. What more could you ask for? He is a gorgeous dog and would fit well into a family setting.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adoptees locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Rover's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Rover is currently in foster in Tennant Creek.
Medical notes
Rover is fit and well with all vet work done and ready to go. He will be wormed and heartworm treated again just before leaving the Territory. We suggest that with all dogs from the Territory, they are wormed and heart-wormed 2 weeks after arrival and monthly for 2 more months, before going on a normal worming regime. His pelvic fracture is fully healed.
