About Lulu ~ Cattle dog x ~ puppy (on trial 14/02/17)
Lulu the Blue! This gorgeous little cattle dog cross is 1 of a kind, quite literally! She is the only survivor of a litter of 3 and is the most loving little pup. She is currently 9 weeks old and a ball of puppy fun and mischief.
Lulu is currently spending her nights in a cosy puppy pen and her days in the yard with 3 other dogs. When someone is home she loves to follow her people around both inside and out. As a single pup, rescued at 5 weeks, Lulu missed a vital window of socialisation having no litter mates to play with. Whilst she is getting a quick crash course from her current foster brothers and sister, it will be imperative that her new owners commit to taking her to puppy school and spend the time to socialise her really well. This will ensure that she will be a well-balanced dog with positive behaviours in the future.
She is responding really well to new sights and sounds, comes running when called and is attentive to food rewards. She is showing great signs of being easy to train, but clearly her new owners will need to be prepared for the usual digging, chewing and toilet training that comes with owning a new pup. Added to this is the fact that she is a working breed and will need regular exercise and activity to keep her happy and healthy. It appears she is crossed with a larger dog, as her legs are quite long. She has beautiful soft floppy ears and a really long tail. We expect she will be a larger than medium sized dog.
The best home for Lulu will be one where she has an older, well behaved dog to learn from and keep her company. She will need to not be left alone for long periods of time whilst young, as she requires regular feeding. There is also the potential that she would become anxious and bark a lot if left alone all day. I’m sure she would love a family with kids to grow with, bearing in mind she will grow quite tall and is currently overzealous with her nails and teeth when excited. With the right family and training, this little bub will be a beautifully loyal addition.
She will require minimum 5 foot secure fencing and gates and enough yard space to burn some energy.
As Lulu is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
