About Chelsea ~ female Mastiff x puppy (On Trial 4/3/17)
Chelsea is a sweet 12 week old female Mastiff x puppy.
She is one of four Mastiff x pups looking for their forever homes; Bruno, Chelsea, Oliver and Brax. Oliver is a male white mastiff x with a brown patch over his eye, Chelsea is a little brindle female and the smallest of the litter, Bruno is a male brindle and Brax, almost a twin to Bruno in his appearance, is another brindle male. They will grow up to be medium-large sized dogs.
This litter of pups were surrendered along with their dog mummy to a local pound. Unfortunately, as happens with many unvaccinated dogs they contracted the deadly parvovirus and required thousands of dollars worth of life saving treatment. Through tireless efforts by the staff at Toronto Vets NSW they survived against the odds.
The pups are happy, healthy pups and have all had their first vaccines and been medically cleared for adoption.
They seek out people for pats and cuddles, yet are very submissive and eager to please. Having spent the earlier weeks of their lives at the vet and under treatment they didn't have the same social exposure to people as other puppies do - so when you bend down to pat them or pick them up they often lay on their back signalling they are not here to make any trouble. It is important that these pups have access to inside and people time as they are seeking human time and companionship. It is also important to spend time teaching the things young pups need to learn like basic obedience - sit, come, stay etc. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
The pups are well socialised with doggy friends and feel most comfortable with smaller dogs, having mini foxies and chihuahuas as their best mates. They do play with the big dog friends too, chasing and racing around, yet are timid when reading big dog language. Being big breeds they will grow into feeling more comfortable with big dog friends once they become more familiar with their canine mates. They are very interested in cats, yet tend to stand and yap in excitement. They are used to children, yet like all pups they will jump in excitement and climb over children that are small or sitting low to the ground.
As the pups are not yet desexed, and require a follow up vaccine they are only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens. They will need to be returned to our vet for vaccinating at around 18 weeks and desexing when they are approximately 6 months old.
For more information or to express your interest in adopting Chelsea, please contact her foster carer Kelly by emailing kellysgroominggarage@hotmail.com.au
The pups are located in Lake Macquarie, NSW, with an adoption fee of $500 each, this includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping, flea and worm treatment. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
