About Eli ~ 4yo Maltese x boy (On Trial 11/2/17)
Introducing Eli! a 4 year old Maltese X boy. Eli is a tiny little guy, weighing only 4kg and is eager to find his happily ever after home.
Eli is very bubbly, full of life and always happy. He loves cuddles and kisses and is so affectionate. He has settled in well in his foster home, lapping up attention from his foster mum and dad. He is a confident little guy - who loves to snuggle up next to you on the lounge, but also loves to take himself for a wander on his own around the garden. Due to his tiny size, secure fencing is really important, as it would only take a small gap for him to squeeze through.
Eli’s toilet training is coming along well, but it is important that he have access to a dog door to continue this training. It is very rare for him to have an accident, however his new family need to be not deterred by any potential accidents which might occur as his training continues. Eli needs someone who is willing to help continue his learning of basic commands, though he does know his name.
Eli sleeps soundly in a crate next to his foster mum’s bed, and in the morning comes into the bed for cuddles. He is very well behaved in the bed and often opts to stay in there and sleep for a little longer after everyone has gotten up and gone to work.
Eli gets along well with his foster brothers and sister, however due to his tiny size he is sometimes overwhelmed by them at playtime and can become quite scared. He would be happy being an only dog, but he would also be happy having a little play mate providing they are not too assertive and not too much bigger than him. Eli is best suited to a home with no children under 12.
Eli takes his job as guard dog very seriously, and will eagerly alert you to any visitors. He does not always greet these visitors as friends, and can be a bit territorial, protecting his house and his family. His foster parents are currently working on this little hurdle, and his new home needs to be happy to continue this training. Due to his non shedding coat, he will require regular grooming every 6-8 weeks.
Eli would be ideal for a retired person who has lots of time to spend doting on him and enjoying his company.
For more information or to potentially meet Eli, please contact his carer Laura at dogrescuelaura@gmail.com. Eli is in care in Charlestown, NSW and is only available for adoption within the Newcastle region.
Eli’s adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and lifetime registered. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
